CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia Receives More than $190K Through Spectrum Community Center Assist

CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia Provides Job Training, Digital Skills and  Resources to Residents in Volusia County

Daytona Beach, Fla. – Jan. 24, 2025 – Spectrum has donated more than $190,000 including $32,000 today to CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia through Spectrum Community Center Assist (SCCA), the company’s $30 million philanthropic initiative to revitalize local community centers and invest in job training programs in underserved rural and urban neighbhorhoods where Spectrum operates.

In 2022, Spectrum launched a partnership event in Palm Coast, Florida with CareerSource Flagler Volusia to support their job skills training program through facility improvements and opened a new Spectrum Training & Technology Center.

Spectrum will again join CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 8 a.m. at their Volusia office located at 359 Bill France Blvd. in Daytona Beach. More than 30 Spectrum employees will volunteer to revitalize a classroom space and provide physical improvements to the facility, including interior painting and setting up new furniture.

“The long-term partnership we have with CareerSource in Volusia County will make a real difference in the lives of local residents by giving them the skills, tools and updated facilities they need to improve their economic condition,” said Rahman Khan, Group Vice President, Community Impact for Charter Communications, which operates the Spectrum brand of connectivity services. “Already thousands of people around the country have participated in SCCA in the neighborhoods we serve, and we look forward to workign with CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia to provide essential job training in a safe and revitalized space.”

CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia will use the $32,000 to to improve its Daytona Beach career center that provides in-depth workforce resources and services that help job seekers and employers succeed.

“One of the missions of CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia is to connect individuals to job opportunities,” said Marci Murphy, Executive Director. “Our new Spectrum Digital Training and Technology Lab expands our capacity to upskill and reskill the local workforce and increase training opportunities. This is a clear example of what a successful private/public partnership looks like.”

Spectrum launched Spectrum Community Center Assist in 2021 and will invest $30 million to benefit 100 community centers and job training programs in underserved areas across the company’s 41-state footprint. At each location, Spectrum invests in the community center’s job training efforts with cash grants and in-kind contributions, improves physical classroom spaces, sponsors rebuilding events with volunteers to repair and enhance the physical buildings, and provides new equipment, including laptops and furniture.
