Your Ticket To Work

The Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program is designed to help SSI/SSDI beneficiaries from 18 to 64 years of age receive employment services and work without affecting Social Security or disability benefits.

This is a voluntary program that increases the employment opportunities of Social Security’s disability beneficiaries and is provided at no cost to you.

The Ticket to Work program is designed to increase the income and self-sufficiency of persons with disabilities, by connecting you with employment service providers (known as Employment Networks) to achieve individual work goals. Through Ticket to Work, you can:

  • Work and maintain your benefits
  • Receive protection from the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Continuing Disability Reviews (CDR)
  • Determine if work is right for you. If you are unable to maintain employment, you can request an “Expedited Reinstatement” of benefits.
  • Receive resume assistance
  • Receive training and education
  • Gain the satisfaction of competitive employment
  • Gain access to other community resources to meet your needs

To encourage your return to work and to help you achieve self-sufficiency, there are many work incentives available to assist you. CareerSource Brevard staff is very familiar with and ready to help you in identifying the ones applicable to your situation.

These include:

  • A nine-month trial work period where you can earn any amount of wages while still receiving your benefits
  • Expedited reinstatement of benefits for any month for up to 36 months after you’ve completed your trial work period in which you were not able to earn substantial wages due to your disability
  • Protection from a continuing disability review (CDR) while you are using your Ticket
